Also, there’s a lot of nice tutorials that you can follow for scanning, like this one or this one. *Whispers* One of the staff suggests that you put black paper behind the pages being scanned. It prevents the page behind from showing through ^^

Hello! I believe it is best to refrain from taking doujinkas’ works for one’s own benefits ^^. Reasons include:
1) There is a possibility that the doujinka may find it disrespectful.
2) The scanlations may need to be taken down altogether.

Since doujin scanlations are supposed to be shared secretly out of our love for the series, it’ll be wise for all of us not to use them as materials of our own creation.

I’m not speaking on behalf of HQ Scans as a group, it’s just me saying this, but I think it doesn’t matter that you put credits, it’s simply not supposed to be used in that way ^^;

I’m really grateful that you asked this. Thank you very much for asking. Although this may sound weird, considering we scanlate doujins, let’s try to respect doujinkas by not taking portions of their art separately other than for the sake of sharing and the enjoyment of viewing it, shall we? ^^

Thank you! I used this group’s font base plus some extra ones that look kind of like what’s on the raw. Some fonts I remember using for the sfxs are Arnold 2.1, Daniel, Daniel Black, CCRatatatat, ComixHeavy, CCWiccanSpecial, TrashHand… but I can’t list “all” of them because I really just pick fonts randomly…

If you could clarify which ones you really would like to know instead of just “all,” please let me know so I can give a better answer! ^^

Q: Can I translate your releases into another language?
A: Sure, you may! And please credit us and the original artist, and if the doujin is a retranslation, please credit the original scanlator as well.

Q: Can I reupload your scans/translations onto another site?
A: No, please do not reupload our scans onto another site— is what we wanna say, but we know that even if we say something like that, people will still upload it anyway, so… yeah, it’s allowed, AS LONG AS THE CREDIT PAGES ARE KEPT INTACT.

Q: Are you looking for more members?

Q: What’s your schedule for releases?
A: We don’t really have a schedule; we just post something whenever we finish it. We always try to put out something every weekend though. We also release something for character birthdays (if we can), and there are even double and triple release specials! (e.g. Triple Release Special for Christmas and New Year, while Double Release Special for Hinata and Kageyama’s birthdays.)

Q: I’ve noticed that all that you’ve been posting are KageHina! Are you gonna release doujins about other pairings as well?
A: Certainly! Although it is undeniable that most of our releases will be KageHina, since ~~this group was founded because of that pairing after all!~~ most of the raws that we have are of that pairing. We really wanna work on all kinds of Haikyuu!! doujinshis though, especially IwaOi and general ones!

Q: But most of your releases are shounen ai/yaoi! Aren’t you gonna release het / gen ones as well?
A: If we do find one, then we will. So please, link us to one and we’ll scanlate it for you! (Provided that you know who the scanner is!)

Q: Do you scan the doujins by yourselves or do you get scans from other sites?
A: If we have the capacity to do so, why not? But as of now, we are not able to do that so we usually get scans from other raw providers.

Q: I found a doujinshi on another site, but I can’t understand it! Can you guys scanlate this for us?
A: It depends, since we still have to get permission from the scanner first. If you have the permission though, and our staff are willing to work on it, then it’s all okay!

Q: I don’t think I can help you myself, but I have feedback for you nonetheless.

Q: So can y’all start asking for permission to the author/circle? Cause y’know, it’s not okay if it’s art from pixiv but when it’s doujinshi it is? Why’s that? It’s still art theft. And before you say “if that’s the case then people shouldn’t scanlate manga” it’s very different plus the doujinka are fans like us and all that, yknow? They’re usually making this for fun and most of them wouldn’t like to see their works posted without permission.

A: While we do understand your sentiments, doing such a thing is difficult. To be honest, we had even discussed this issue within the group and we even tried to ask for permission but… you can’t exactly say to the doujinka that: “Hey, I’ve read your doujinshi from illegal scans, I know that you’re selling this but is it okay if we scanlate this one and share it for free with everyone else?”

And please read this. This would be the last time that we will answer something similar to this, and future asks related to this topic will automatically be ignored. Thank you.

Q: Do you accept doujinshi scans of X/Y pairing?

A: Yes, we do accept those! In fact, we accept scans of any pairings, and most of all, “general” ones since those kinds of doujinshis are really rare!

Q: I want to scan them, but I don’t know how I should do it! Are there any tips that you could give me?

A: You don’t have to worry about fixing the images before sending the scans to us, since our cleaners and redrawers will fix the job in no time! And please, scan the book properly. Press the book firmly onto the scanner and ensure that everything on the page are scanned. Gutter shadows are the worst to clean when it comes to scans, so please, don’t give us scans with a lot of gutter shadows!

To put it simply: Just scan it (via scanner; cellphone pictures are not considered as “scans”, sheesh) normally, compress it (zip or rar is fine with us) and upload it to a file hosting site, and send us the download link via fanmail or email. (Preferably email.) Don’t send us links via asks, since it will be eaten by Tumblr. However, if you really can’t send us fanmails nor emails, then just put the link on an ask and add spaces and parentheses on the link. (e.g. http(:)//hqscans(.)co(.)vu)

And also, DP Scanlations made a great tutorial for scanning, so be sure to check it out! Cjelskerlink has also written an amazing tutorial when it comes to scanning doujinshi, so please check it out! Take note that you have to place a black paper at the back of the page that you are currently scanning so that the pages won’t become see-through.

Q: I have the scans for this doujinshi, but I’m not the scanner! Can I still share it with you guys?

A: Absolutely! We definitely need more raws, after all! However, if that’s the case, then please make sure that you have included the source of your raws, and that you have asked permission from the scanner. If it came from a free-for-grabs post, then be sure to tell us so we don’t have to look for the scanner anymore.

Q: I have a scanlation request for a doujin that I can provide. What’s the best way to start this process?

A: For scanlation requests wherein you’ll be the one to provide us with the scans, you can either send us the link through fanmail (the fastest one) or through our email, hqscanlations@gmail.com. (Send us an ask that you have sent us an email since we don’t really check it regularly… sorry. ^^;) Please don’t send it via ask since it might get eaten by Tumblr, but in case you have no other choice, then please send the link like this:
